We are journalists and investigators with decades of accountability experience.
We are nonpartisan.
We created Sunlight Search this year in response to the sudden political rise of U.S. Rep. George Santos, who wooed voters with a resume of fabrications and violated their trust.
We develop fact chronologies on candidates, offering reporters a straightforward, factual methodology that eschews political spin.
Our driving force is the preservation of democracy and informed civil discourse through accountability.
What We Do
Sunlight Search takes a just-the-facts, party-blind approach to research.
We are recruiting dozens of citizen researchers to our fellowship program, and training them rigorously.
We offer the media a factual foundation for their own reporting in their own communities.
We are distinct from traditional opposition research and have no involvement with political parties or campaigns.
We do not advocate the victory or defeat of specific candidates.
